Processed Health Food?
There is certainly no shortage fad diets processed food options in your grocery store shelves or as paid social media ads and tv commercials but there is just something about these highly marketed products that just doesn’t sit right with me. How could it be that as the highly processed and packaged food industry grows in size that we are as a society becoming more sick and generally less healthy then our predecessors. Could it be that these companies that spend billions a dollars a year on marketing and telling half truths about their products maybe have their own interests in mind? We are constantly bombarded with ads and commercials everyday and in our busy lives it’s hard to cut through the endless information that is at our disposal. how do we know what’s really true? In my opinion in order to maintain a healthy and nutritious diet is to try your best to not eat anything that was not deemed “food” 100 years ago. In other words if what you are about to eat was created by a chemical scientist with a job in the food industry. then its probably not the best think for you. I'm sorry but for me, I don’t care what the packaging says because the jargon on the package was discussed in length by a group smart individuals sitting in a board room.
It’s not easy by any means to maintain a farm to table diet in our lives. The quick options are all around us. The truth is that good food, made well takes time. Sometimes it take a LONG time and so it is certainly reasonable to forego making dinners every night or even making lunch for yourself each day. what we need is a couple clones of ourselves! However, since we don’t live in a sci-fi movie, what is another option? Restaurants? I suppose but you can’t possibly have the time to go to a sit down dinner everyday. But what about take out. Yeah but do you want the soggy food that was stuffed into plastic while it was still hot? Supermarket pre-mades? I guess but that stuff is typically drenched in soy or canola oil and prepared in a generic way. Personally I think a personal chef service is the way of the future. Gig economy Chefs creating specialized meals for clients according to their needs, preferences and goals. We are The Simmering Chef and we’re ready to serve you.
